FUTURES JOURNAL
Futures Trading Journal, Track NQ, ES, CL, GC
Most journals treat futures as an afterthought. Aurafy was built futures-first. Tick-level P&L, per-contract round-trip fees, R-multiple tracking as a primary review metric, and Tradovate / NinjaTrader auto-import. Start free in your browser at app.aurafy.dev and review futures trades with the contract math visible.
Aurafy is a young, independent trading journal. It earns trust by keeping the local app usable without an account, making desktop data exportable, and being clear about which features are free and which require Pro.
Built for futures, not adapted for them
Futures have a few quirks that stock journals handle badly: contract specs (tick size, tick value, point value), round-trip fees in the cents range for micros, and the need to separate out hedged positions. Aurafy stores these per instrument and applies them automatically, a 2-point move on NQ is always 8 ticks worth $40/contract, not a rounding error.
Fees are auto-calculated, not guessed
Every instrument in Aurafy has a fee_per_contract field set to the lowest discount broker rate. MNQ is $0.50 round-trip. NQ is $5.00. When you enter a trade manually, fees auto-fill from this table; when you import from Tradovate, Aurafy uses the exact fee from the CSV if present and falls back to the table if the broker didn't include one. You can also edit the per-instrument fee in Settings to match your actual account.
R-multiple as the primary stat
Dollar P&L is the wrong unit for comparing a 1-lot scalp against a 5-lot swing. Aurafy computes R-multiple for every trade: if you had a stop, R = net_pnl / (|entry - stop| × point_value × quantity). If you didn't, Aurafy uses your configured default risk per trade. The dashboard, stats page, and trade log all sort and filter by R so expectancy math is one click away.
Multi-account for prop firms
Personal account, FTMO challenge, Topstep funded, Apex eval, separate them cleanly. Each trade tags to an account, and stats filter per account. Free covers 1 account; Pro unlocks unlimited accounts. The prop firm journal guide covers the workflow in detail.
Screen recording for futures flow
Futures session tape reads differently at 7:00 AM ET vs 3:00 PM ET vs overnight. Recording the screen during each session and watching it back is the fastest way to spot tape-reading mistakes. The free standalone Aurafy Recorder app captures your session and auto-links each recording to your trades so specific moments are one click away (recording review is a Pro feature).
